The Delhi Police’s South District team uncovered an organized inter-state liquor smuggling ring operating between Delhi, Gurugram, and Bengaluru. They seized illicit liquor valued at around Rs 1.50 crore and arrested three bootleggers involved in the illegal operation. The crackdown followed extensive surveillance and intelligence work by the Mehrauli Police Station.
A dedicated police unit was formed to track down bootleggers in the Mehrauli area. During routine patrolling, the police intercepted a vehicle loaded with 63 boxes of illicit liquor. The driver, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, revealed details about transporting liquor to Okhla Railway Station for monetary gain.
Further investigations led to the apprehension of Upender Singh and Ankit Singh in Delhi, where additional boxes of illicit liquor were found. The syndicate sourced liquor from Gurugram and used railway parcel services to dispatch it to Bengaluru disguised as commercial goods. A special police team swiftly recovered more illicit liquor in Bengaluru.
The arrested individuals, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Upender Singh, and Ankit Singh, were involved in a sophisticated operation to transport illicit liquor across state borders. The successful operation highlights the Delhi Police’s commitment to combating organized crime and illegal trafficking networks.
