The Cyber Police Station of South District, Delhi Police has dismantled an organized interstate cyber fraud syndicate that ran fake online helicopter booking sites, tricking unsuspecting travelers. Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with the case, leading to the recovery of significant digital evidence and electronic devices. The fraud involved duping a victim of Rs 20,328 through deceptive websites like irctc-helicopter.com and irctc-heliyatra.com.
A complaint lodged by a defrauded individual triggered the investigation, resulting in the registration of FIR No. 30/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at PS Cyber South District. A specialized team, under the supervision of Inspector Hansraj Swami and Additional DCP Arvind Kumar, meticulously analyzed the money trail, bank accounts, domain registrations, and technical data to identify the culprits.
The probe led to the arrest of Omprakash Kumar and Rohit Kumar from Bihar’s Nalanda, with the disclosure of involvement by co-accused Shreyansh Tiwari alias Shivam, the alleged developer and manager of the fraudulent websites. The syndicate’s operations involved creating fake travel portals resembling legitimate platforms and promoting them through paid social media ads on Meta (Facebook), resulting in nearly Rs 10 lakh in total cheating across various states and Union Territories.
The accused coerced victims into making payments for bookings on the fake websites, followed by demands for additional transfers under false pretenses. The fraudulently obtained funds were channeled through mule bank accounts and digital payment platforms to obscure the money trail. Recovered items from the accused include mobile phones, laptops, an iPad, ATM cards, and digital records linked to the illicit activities, forming crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.
