The Cyber Police Station of Delhi Police has uncovered an organized cyber fraud scheme operating across India. Two individuals, Ganesh and Mandeep Singh, both 21 years old from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, were apprehended in Punjab. The accused exploited people’s emotional vulnerabilities by impersonating spiritual healers on fake social media accounts.
Using aliases like “Zaynab Khan” and “Muskan Khan” on Instagram and Facebook, the fraudsters enticed victims seeking solutions to personal issues. They fabricated success stories and comments to portray themselves as powerful spiritual healers adept at resolving love, marriage, and family problems through rituals. The scammers then coerced victims into divulging personal details and extorted money in installments for purported spiritual services.
The fraud came to light after a complaint was filed at the Cyber Police Station, leading to the arrest of the accused. The police discovered that the duo, operating under the name “All Problems Solutions,” had engaged with over 2,000 individuals nationwide through fake online personas. A team of officers conducted a thorough investigation, analyzing digital footprints and financial transactions, which ultimately led to the arrest of the perpetrators in Mohali.
The arrested individuals possessed multiple smartphones containing incriminating evidence, including fake social media accounts and chat records. Ganesh is pursuing a B.A. through distance education, while Mandeep Singh holds an ITI course in Diesel Engine Mechanic and a B.A. degree. The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated that efforts are ongoing to identify other syndicate members, track the money trail, and determine the total amount defrauded from victims nationwide.
