Delhi Police stated that no FIR has been filed against the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ supporters who protested at Jantar Mantar urging the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to the NEET paper leak issue. The police emphasized that despite social media claims, no such FIR has been lodged. Citizens were advised to be cautious of spreading unverified information and to rely only on official updates from Delhi Police.
The protest at Jantar Mantar by the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ was supported by activist Sonam Wangchuk, students, exam aspirants, and politicians. Permission for the protest was granted shortly before it commenced on Saturday morning, following the arrival of party founder Abhijeet Dipke from the US. Dipke, carrying a copy of B.R. Ambedkar’s autobiography, had urged supporters to gather at Jantar Mantar before his arrival in Delhi.
The demonstration aimed to hold Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accountable, seek justice, and demand his resignation, as per a statement by the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’. A pamphlet distributed at the protest site mentioned that their petition for Pradhan’s resignation had garnered over eight lakh signatures. The party was launched by Dipke in response to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s remarks about “parasites” and “cockroaches,” quickly gaining significant attention and a large following on social media platforms.
