The Delhi Police recently conducted a 24-hour special drive against illegal activities, leading to the registration of 47 cases under the Excise and Gambling Acts. During the operation, 58 individuals, including eight women, were apprehended for their involvement in various unlawful activities.
Under the drive, 29 individuals were caught for gambling-related offenses, resulting in the registration of 18 cases under the Gambling Act. Cash amounting to Rs 26,470, along with gambling materials, was seized from their possession.
The initiative, supervised by DCP Outer District Vikram Singh, IPS, aimed to combat organized crime and illegal activities through coordinated patrolling and surveillance. The police teams, under heightened vigilance, conducted routine patrols and targeted surveillance operations across multiple police station jurisdictions.
In a parallel crackdown, the police also targeted the illegal liquor trade, seizing 2,432 quarters of illicit liquor during checking operations. This led to the registration of 29 cases under the Delhi Excise Act, with 29 individuals, including eight women, apprehended. The cases were reported from various police stations, emphasizing the police’s focus on dismantling networks involved in illegal liquor distribution.
Authorities are currently investigating to trace the source of the illicit liquor and identify broader networks engaged in gambling and other organized criminal activities. Efforts are also underway to uncover potential inter-district or inter-state links associated with these operations.
