In April, the Cyber West Police Station of Delhi Police’s West District emerged as a key player in combating organized cyber crime. They successfully dismantled various fraud networks across states, bringing 89 cyber offenders to justice. The operations exposed a Rs 40 crore cyber fraud network, leading to the return of Rs 51.95 lakh to victims through legal interventions.
Under the leadership of Inspector Vikas Kumar Buldak, the Cyber West team, with the supervision of ACP Operations Vijay Singh, arrested 35 cyber criminals and bound down 54 others. They resolved 34 major cyber fraud cases and closed 16 cases after thorough investigations. The crackdown extended to states like Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi.
The police utilized technical surveillance and financial analysis to track cyber criminals involved in various scams. They recovered cash, SIM cards, ATM cards, mobile phones, and other digital assets used in fraudulent activities. The Cyber West teams managed to secure Rs 1.11 crore out of a total cheated amount of Rs 3.36 crore reported during the month.
In a significant operation, the Cyber West unit dismantled an organized mule account and OTP routing syndicate in Delhi. The accused attempted to escape during a raid but were apprehended by the police. They were found operating a centralised OTP-sharing system through a WhatsApp group. The police recovered numerous smartphones, SIM cards, ATM cards, and laptops from the accused.
