In a significant move against narcotics, Delhi Police and the Crime Branch jointly destroyed 1452 kg of drugs, valued at Rs 897 crore. This marks the tenth such operation, emphasizing the city government’s strong stance against drugs. The total amount of drugs seized and destroyed now totals 49,663 kg, worth Rs 14,799 crore in the international market.
The destruction included various narcotics like Methamphetamine, heroin, charas, ganja, methaqualone, poppy straw, phenethylamine, tramadol tablets, and codeine syrup. This action follows the national goal of achieving a ‘Drug-Free’ India set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy advocated by Home Minister Amit Shah. Sh. H.G.S Dhaliwal, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Delhi Crime Branch, highlighted the event as not just eliminating seized drugs but dismantling a harmful ecosystem that endangers the youth and society.
Delhi Police remains committed to a ‘Zero-Tolerance Policy’ against narcotics, aiming to eradicate drugs at their source. Through operations like ‘Operation Kavach’ and rigorous narcotic detections, the force is actively combating drug trafficking. The city’s Police Commissioner has directed all ranks to intensify efforts towards making Delhi drug-free, emphasizing the importance of collective action.
