Delhi Police have made notable progress in various operations, apprehending criminals involved in street theft and a long-standing vehicle forgery ring. In the South-West District, a collaborative effort between the Anti-Snatching Cell and Sagarpur police station led to the arrest of two robbers, identified as Sumit Nagpal, 34, from Dasrathpuri, Delhi, and Gaurav @ Totla, 31, from Vijay Enclave Dabri. The accused were found in possession of robbed cash amounting to Rs 680 and Rs 3,200, forcibly transferred into their account.
On January 18, an incident occurred where the complainant, M Kumar, was accosted near Dasrathpuri Nala. The accused individuals seized Rs 680 in cash from him and threatened to transfer Rs 3,200 via PhonePay before fleeing. The police, based on technical investigation, specific intelligence, and manual surveillance, successfully apprehended the two criminals who later admitted to committing the crime to finance their drug addiction.
In a separate case, Delhi Police dismantled a vehicle fraud syndicate that had been deceiving buyers for an extended period. The syndicate’s operations were exposed following the arrest of Hardeep Singh Randhawa, who had been evading authorities. Hardeep Singh, wanted in Uttar Pradesh for three years and facing multiple charges, including arms and attempted murder, was involved in selling vehicles using forged documents, defrauding buyers in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
The successful arrests were attributed to the diligent efforts of the police teams involved. In the Sagarpur robbery case, Sub-Inspector Mukesh, Head Constable Sumer, HC Arun, Constable Nitin, and Ct. Anil, under the supervision of Inspector Hari Singh and ACP Anil Kumar, played crucial roles. Similarly, in the vehicle fraud investigation, a team led by Investigating Officer SI Rajat Malik, ASI Sanjeev Kumar, HC Shaitan Singh, under SHO/police station Dwarka South Insp. Rajesh Kumar Sah and DCP Ankit Singh, coordinated the multi-state operation.
These operations underscore Delhi Police’s commitment to combatting street crime, organized fraud, and entrenched criminal networks through a combination of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated field actions.
