Delhi Police has successfully recovered 2,400 lost and stolen mobile phones valued at over Rs 2.5 crores in the first half of this year through ‘Operation Vishwas’. Between April and June 2026, 1,790 mobile phones were traced and returned to their rightful owners. This citizen-centric initiative aims to enhance public trust and improve grievance redressal using modern technology.
Operation Vishwas, led by the anti-snatching cell of the South-West District, employs technical surveillance, digital tracking, and coordinated investigations to retrieve lost or stolen mobile phones. The initiative has not only provided timely relief to citizens but also strengthened confidence in the police force.
During the April-June quarter, Delhi Police recovered 1,790 mobile phones through intensive technical analysis and digital tracking. Subsequently, nearly 1,900 phones were handed over to their owners through police station-level Mobile Phone Handover Programmes. People who received their lost or stolen phones expressed gratitude for the police’s efforts.
The Anti Snatching Cell recovered 1,236 devices, while police station teams retrieved the remaining 1,164 phones out of the total 2,400 recovered between January and June 2026. The cumulative value of these recovered phones surpasses Rs 2.5 crore. Delhi Police credits the success of Operation Vishwas to its dedication to citizen welfare, transparent policing, and efficient public service delivery. Leveraging advanced technology and investigative efforts, the South-West District Police has significantly increased the recovery rate of lost and stolen mobile phones.
Efforts are ongoing to trace and recover more missing phones and ensure their prompt return to rightful owners. The initiative continues to prioritize enhancing public confidence and delivering effective police services to the residents of the national capital.
