The Delhi Police Special Cell apprehended gangster Shabir Ali, also known as Shabir Chaudhary, who was leading an organized crime syndicate in North-East Delhi and the Trans-Yamuna region. Shabir Ali had been evading authorities since April 2025 in connection with a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
The arrest was carried out by the Special Cell’s NDR unit, led by Inspectors Alok Kumar Maurya and Nitu Kumar, under the supervision of ACP Ashish Kumar. Acting on intelligence inputs and technical surveillance, the team captured Shabir Ali at the Shambhu Border in Haryana on June 14 and brought him to Delhi for legal proceedings.
Shabir Ali, alias Shabir Chaudhary, heads the Shabir Chaudhary-Hashim Baba-Anwar Chacha organized crime syndicate, which is active in areas like Seelampur, Bhajanpura, Maujpur, Shahdara, and neighboring districts of Uttar Pradesh. The gang members have allegedly been involved in various criminal activities, including extortion, murder, land grabbing, and other serious offenses.
Police disclosed that Shabir Ali, a native of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, entered the criminal world in the mid-1990s through his association with Haji Afzaal of Seelampur. He has a history of criminal involvement, including multiple arrests and connections with notorious criminals like Hashim Baba and Anwar Khan alias Chacha.
