Much ahead of the monsoon season, Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma conducted a thorough inspection of the city’s main roads to assess drain desilting and readiness on the ground. Accompanied by senior officials from various departments, the Minister’s visit, part of the “Government on Wheels” initiative, focused on evaluating crucial stretches in south Delhi.

During the inspection that included key areas like Moolchand Crossing, AIIMS Crossing, and several underpasses prone to flooding, Minister Verma emphasized the importance of addressing incomplete cleaning and potential choke points promptly. He stressed the need to eliminate any vulnerabilities before the onset of heavy rains to prevent disruptions along these routes.

The Minister’s on-site examination of drains, desilting progress, and road conditions underscored the significance of meticulous preparation to avoid waterlogging and traffic issues, particularly in low-lying zones and underpasses. Coordination among multiple departments during the assessment facilitated immediate resolution of any overlapping responsibilities, ensuring a comprehensive approach to monsoon readiness.

Highlighting the ongoing preparations across various corridors, Minister Verma’s proactive approach instilled a sense of urgency in the Delhi government to swiftly address any deficiencies before they escalate into monsoon-related challenges. The inspection not only emphasized the need for consistent execution but also underscored the criticality of timely completion to bolster the city’s resilience during heavy rainfall.
