After filing nomination papers for the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde criticized the Shiv Sena-UBT Chief Uddhav Thackeray and the Congress for their political stance. Shinde sarcastically responded to State Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal’s comment about an “inner voice” guiding their decision not to field a candidate, questioning the authenticity of such claims.
Taking a dig at Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership style, Shinde commented on the Opposition’s strategy, highlighting a tendency to delegate responsibilities during crucial times. Eknath Shinde strategically nominated Neelam Gorhe and Bacchu Kadu, emphasizing the latter’s 25 years of social work and the importance of his inclusion in the MahaYuti alliance.
The nomination of Bacchu Kadu is viewed as a significant move to strengthen the Shiv Sena’s presence in the Vidarbha region. Despite internal concerns, Shinde firmly supported Neelam Gorhe’s candidacy, acknowledging her contributions and loyalty to the party. The Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP alliance opted not to field additional candidates, ensuring a smooth and uncontested election for the nine available seats.
