Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi virtually inaugurated police projects totaling around Rs 202.85 crore in Ahmedabad. The initiatives aim to bolster the state’s security infrastructure and enhance the well-being and effectiveness of law enforcement personnel.
The projects encompass various developments, including a new Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) building at Chharodi costing Rs 47.98 crore, an urban police station at Bodakdev at Rs 33.49 crore, and police housing and PSI quarters at Amraiwadi Police Lines amounting to Rs 74.62 crore. Additionally, there are police housing facilities at Kagdapith (Rs 39.68 crore), a dog kennel and training office at Saijpur Bogha (Rs 5.74 crore), and SRP Group-2 bungalows (Rs 1.34 crore).
Deputy Chief Minister Sanghavi emphasized the significance of the ATS, stating that it serves as a continuous security and trust hub for 6.5 crore Gujaratis. He highlighted the ATS’s round-the-clock operations, ensuring the protection of citizens and thwarting potential threats.
State Finance, Jail, and Police Housing Minister Kamlesh Patel underscored the importance of a robust police force for maintaining peace in Gujarat. He credited the efficiency of the Gujarat Police and ATS for the state’s tranquility, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards hooliganism, terrorism, and narcotics.
State Police Chief K.L.N. Rao commended the progress of the ATS as a specialized force equipped with modern weaponry, training, and manpower. He noted the establishment of the Special Operations Group within the ATS to tackle evolving challenges effectively.
