In light of the by-election following Ajit Pawar’s passing, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has called on all political parties to ensure a smooth, unopposed contest in Baramati. Fadnavis emphasized the state’s tradition of holding by-elections unopposed in such circumstances, citing past instances like R.R. Patil’s demise. He endorsed Sunetra Pawar as the Mahayuti candidate and appealed for unified support in honoring Ajit Pawar’s legacy.
Following Fadnavis’s plea, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and NCP leader Sunetra Pawar have also advocated for an unopposed election in Baramati. Maharashtra NCP chief Sunil Tatkare echoed this sentiment, urging cooperation among all political parties for a smooth bypoll process. However, Congress remains firm on contesting the bypolls in Baramati and Rahuri Assembly constituencies.
NCP’s nominee and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar is set to submit her nomination papers on April 6 in Baramati, with the support of senior party members and officials.
