Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, current Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, and other team members have started training for IPL 2026 in Chennai. The team, five-time champions, began their practice at the franchise’s high-performance center with Indian players like Ayush Mhatre, Mukesh Choudhary, and others attending.
New recruits Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma have also joined the squad for training sessions. The camp currently includes domestic players, with national team members expected to join later. Assistant coaches Sridharan Sriram and Rajiv Kumar, along with strength and conditioning coach Greg King, are overseeing the sessions.
The team’s jersey for the upcoming IPL season was unveiled recently. However, the arrival of international players is uncertain due to the Middle East conflict. Clarity on travel schedules and the final fixtures list for IPL 2026 is awaited, with international players from the T20 World Cup expected to join the camp after the tournament.
