Four new cases of diarrhoea were reported in the last 24 hours in Indore’s Bhagirathpura area, bringing the total number of hospitalized patients to 41, including 12 in intensive care units (ICUs). Chief Health and Medical Officer Dr. Madhav Prasad Hasani confirmed the increase in cases.
A total of 420 diarrhoea patients have been admitted, with 379 discharged from over 30 hospitals since contaminated drinking water led to the health crisis. Local BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya mentioned that the situation is gradually improving in the affected area.
Vijayvargiya stated that significant progress has been made in laying a new pipeline to supply Narmada drinking water, with 30% of the work completed. Water samples from over 100 borewells were found contaminated, prompting a directive to only use water supplied through tankers.
The administration has initiated health check-ups for all residents in the Bhagirathpura area, deploying multiple medical teams for door-to-door visits. Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi mentioned that water supply in a portion of the area will resume in the coming days, with ongoing efforts to address the crisis.
