Citing concerns among students following the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026, Digvijaya Singh, a senior Congress leader, has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide a detailed report on paper leaks and irregularities in NTA-conducted exams. Singh, who heads the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, emphasized the need for transparency to alleviate uncertainty and stress among aspirants. He highlighted the absence of comprehensive public records on previous cases, leading to a lack of confidence in the examination system.
Singh’s letter to the Prime Minister stressed the importance of a ‘White Paper’ covering the past eight years of NTA exams to restore credibility. He called for the inclusion of all instances of paper leaks, actions taken by NTA and investigative agencies, status of probes, and legal outcomes of accused individuals. Transparency and accountability, according to Singh, are crucial for rebuilding trust among India’s youth and ensuring faith in the examination process.
Noting the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 and the subsequent lack of updates on investigations, Singh expressed concern over the uncertainty faced by students and parents. He urged PM Modi to address the issue promptly and provide reassurance to the affected individuals. The NEET-UG 2024 exam was marred by allegations of a significant paper leak, leading to arrests in various states and triggering protests and demands for a retest.
