India’s Diksha Dagar improved significantly in the Ford Women’s NSW Open, going from a disappointing first-round score of 77 to shooting 66-65 in the next two rounds. This performance has elevated her to tied-26th position after the third round. Diksha’s second round was particularly impressive with five birdies and no bogeys, and in the third round, she continued her strong play with six birdies, including four in the last five holes.
In contrast, other Indian players like Hitaashee Bakshi, Pranavi Urs, and Avani Prashanth missed the cut. The tournament is currently witnessing a tight competition as regional qualifier Hannah Reeves leads the field at 12-under par. The event, now in its 17th edition, has been eventful, marked by heavy rainfall on the initial day.
After completion of 36 holes at Wollongong Golf Club, round three began with a shotgun start at 14:45 local time, with Ireland’s Aine Donegan initially holding a two-shot lead. However, Reeves, a three-time regional qualifier winner, surged ahead with an impressive round of 66 (-5), taking the lead by one shot over Kelsey Bennett from Australia with one round remaining in New South Wales.
Thailand’s April Angurasaranee had a remarkable day, carding a 62 (-9), which included a hole-in-one at the 170-yard par-3 12th hole. She is currently tied for third place with France’s Agathe Laisne and South Korea’s 17-year-old amateur Soomin Oh. The top-10 leaderboard is completed by six players tied at eight-under par.
