Director Natasha Kermani discussed the casting of Sophie Turner and Kit Harington as lovers in the movie ‘The Dreadful’. Turner and Harington, known for their roles in ‘Game of Thrones’, play childhood friends turned lovers in the new film. Kermani highlighted the “forbidden fruit” aspect added by their past on-screen relationship.
The horror film is set during the War of the Roses and stars Sophie Turner as Anne, living with her mother-in-law while her husband is at war. Kermani praised Turner’s performance, emphasizing her portrayal of the character’s spirituality and inner strength. Turner’s interpretation brought depth to the character beyond what was initially envisioned.
Kit Harington, who plays opposite Turner, expressed feeling “odd” about their on-screen romance. Despite initial discomfort, Harington appreciated the opportunity to work with Turner again. He described their on-set reunion as feeling like being with family, reigniting their friendship and camaraderie.
