The DMK has set up a 10-member advisory committee to propose significant structural changes within the party following its defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections. This move aims to revamp the organization and reconnect with the public post the electoral loss. The committee includes senior leaders like Thangam Thennarasu and Geetha Jeevan.
DMK President M.K. Stalin unveiled the committee, which will focus on establishing a uniform organizational setup from grassroots levels to the party’s central office. The reforms are anticipated to enhance coordination among different party levels and strengthen connections with party workers and the populace. This restructuring initiative is part of a broader plan to address identified shortcomings and gear up for future political scenarios.
After the recent electoral setback, the DMK leadership conducted an extensive evaluation by deploying 19 field study teams comprising 38 senior members. These teams gathered feedback from district units, cadre, and local leaders to understand the reasons behind the party’s defeat and organizational lacunae. The recommendations from these assessments will guide the advisory committee in devising a comprehensive roadmap for organizational reforms.
The newly formed committee will scrutinize the current organizational structure at all levels and propose strategies to enhance the party’s efficiency, responsiveness, and readiness for upcoming political challenges. Emphasis will be placed on reinforcing grassroots units, improving internal coordination, and expanding public outreach as the DMK endeavors to bounce back from its Assembly election loss.
