The DMK is gearing up for a significant organisational overhaul post the current Tamil Nadu Assembly session. This move comes in the wake of the party’s lackluster performance in the recent elections. The restructuring aims to bolster the party’s grassroots presence and reinforce its electoral machinery.
The revamp will primarily target Chennai and its adjacent districts, where the DMK faced notable setbacks. It seeks to enhance coordination among party units, expand voter engagement, and gear up for upcoming local body polls.
Key Chennai leaders like P.K. Sekarbabu, Ma. Subramanian, and T.M. Anbarasan are likely to be entrusted with broader organisational responsibilities spanning multiple Assembly constituencies. This restructuring initiative intends to streamline operations and ensure better oversight of party activities at the grassroots level.
In Chennai, the existing organisational setup differs from that of other districts in the state. While districts outside Chennai are structured around units covering two Assembly constituencies, the city features relatively smaller organisational districts. The proposed changes may see senior leaders overseeing clusters of four Assembly constituencies each, fostering improved coordination and election management.
