A doctor couple tragically lost their lives in a road accident near a toll plaza in Vaishali district early Saturday morning. Dr. Jitendra Prasad (50) and his wife (45), who were both working at Araria Sadar Hospital, were identified as the deceased. The accident occurred in dense fog when their car collided with a parked container truck on the Muzaffarpur-Patna highway.
The couple, residents of Patna district, were returning home from Araria when the collision happened. The car crashed into the container truck due to poor visibility caused by fog. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, leaving the couple and their driver trapped inside the damaged vehicle.
Police from Sarai police station promptly responded to the incident, rescuing the occupants from the wrecked car. Unfortunately, the doctors were pronounced dead upon arrival at Hajipur Sadar Hospital. The driver sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment, while a pet dog in the vehicle survived unharmed.
Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the driver and helper of the container truck responsible for illegally parking on the roadside. The collision was so severe that the car was completely destroyed, prompting the grieving family members to rush to the hospital upon hearing the tragic news. This incident highlights the pressing issue of road safety in Bihar, especially in foggy conditions.
