Dr. Nusrat Praveen has officially started her new role, as confirmed by the Patna district Civil Surgeon, ending the uncertainty surrounding her appointment. The joining formalities were completed on January 6, with Dr. Praveen undergoing a mandatory medical examination before joining the department the same day. Despite confirming the completion of the process, Civil Surgeon Dr. Avinash Kumar Singh chose not to provide an on-camera statement but shared the information informally.
With the confirmation of her joining, the speculation around Dr. Nusrat Praveen’s appointment has finally been put to rest. The controversy arose after a video showing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulling her hijab during a health department program went viral on social media on December 15, 2025. This incident led to widespread criticism and political reactions, with opposition leaders and others expressing their concerns.
The issue not only stirred debates in Bihar but also resonated in Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and even in Pakistan. A threatening video targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, allegedly released by a Pakistani don, circulated on social media. Moreover, a Muslim woman filed an FIR against the Chief Minister in Lucknow, while actress Rakhi Sawant publicly criticized him over the incident.
