Dr. Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, highlighted the crucial role of women in India’s growth trajectory towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. At a conference in New Delhi, she stressed the significance of women’s economic participation in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Dr. Adani welcomed Union Minister Annapurna Devi, noting the strong policy support for women-led development.
Empowerment through access was a key theme in Dr. Adani’s address, citing the use of agricultural mobile applications to support women farmers in rural areas with limited formal education. These tools have enhanced productivity, income, and confidence among women in agriculture. The Adani Foundation’s initiatives in the dairy sector have also empowered over 3,500 women through self-help group-led milk collection centers, leading to improved income stability and bargaining power.
Dr. Adani highlighted the success of the ‘SuPoshan’ health initiative, benefiting over 3.25 lakh women, and the ‘Swabhimaan’ program, which has helped 4,500 women establish sustainable livelihoods. She emphasized that true empowerment lies in expanding women’s access to skills, finance, markets, and leadership opportunities. Policy measures like the Self-Help Entrepreneurs initiative are seen as crucial in enabling women to transition from micro-credit participation to owning enterprises with growth potential.
