The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched DSC ARJUN, an AI-powered robotic surveillance platform, to bolster passenger safety, station security, and operational efficiency. Unveiled in Bhubaneswar, the platform integrates advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and IoT to support Railway Protection Force personnel. This initiative signifies ECoR’s commitment to a smart, technology-driven security ecosystem.

DSC ARJUN is a significant advancement in robotic policing within Indian Railways, following the introduction of Captain ARJUN by Central Railway in 2020. The humanoid robot ASC ARJUN was earlier introduced at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, with DSC ARJUN now representing a more sophisticated phase by incorporating AI-enabled surveillance and analytics. Designed as a force multiplier, DSC ARJUN offers round-the-clock surveillance with features such as facial recognition, crowd analytics, unattended baggage detection, and real-time alert generation.

The intelligent robotic platform is aimed at enhancing situational awareness, aiding in timely decision-making, and reinforcing preventive and evidence-based policing efforts. It can be deployed across various railway locations to monitor passenger movement, prevent crimes, protect assets, and respond effectively to emergencies like fires or medical incidents. ECoR officials highlighted the platform’s versatility in providing enhanced surveillance at stations, booking offices, waiting halls, and other vulnerable areas.
