The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Jammu, part of the J&K Crime Branch, announced the arrest of an absconder who had been on the run for seven years. The accused, identified as Riyaz Ahmad Matoo, was apprehended in connection with a case registered under Sections 420 and 120-B RPC at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu. Matoo, who had been changing residences frequently in Srinagar, Delhi, and other parts of the country to avoid legal action, was finally captured in Srinagar after extensive surveillance and field operations conducted by a special team.
The successful arrest of the absconder showcases the dedication and professionalism of the Crime Branch EOW Jammu in pursuing offenders and ensuring justice, regardless of their efforts to evade capture. This arrest has led to the dismantling of a group of fraudsters and cheaters. A preliminary chargesheet has been filed against two accused individuals who had also been evading arrest, with ongoing investigations into the case. SSP Faisal Qureshi of Crime Branch EOW Jammu has urged the public to report similar issues to hold fraudsters accountable.
