The ED’s Jalandhar zonal office has issued a provisional attachment order under the PMLA of 2002, attaching a bank balance of Rs 1.76 crore in connection with a money laundering investigation involving the digital arrest of S.P. Oswal. The investigation revealed that illicit funds from various cybercrimes were routed through different accounts, including Frozenman Warehousing and Logistics. Fraudsters impersonating CBI officers extorted Rs 7 crore from Oswal during the digital arrest.
The investigation further uncovered that the accused, including Rumi Kalita and Arpit Rathore, used multiple mule accounts to route and conceal the proceeds of crime. Kalita collaborated with Atanu Choudary, utilizing Frozenman Warehousing and Logistics’ account for money laundering activities. Funds from other cybercrimes were also credited to Frozenman Warehousing and Logistics and Rigglo Ventures Pvt Ltd accounts, with proceeds being transferred to various mule accounts for diversion and concealment.
A portion of the illicit funds was channeled through shell entities and sent out of India using trade-based money laundering methods. The remaining proceeds were used to purchase virtual digital assets. The attached bank balance of Rs 1.76 crore was traced to Mrityunjya Multitrade, a mule entity’s bank account used for routing proceeds from cybercrimes. Multiple mule bank accounts were identified in the investigation, opened by exploiting economically vulnerable individuals with false promises.
Accused Rumi Kalita was arrested on December 23, 2025, and Arpit Rathore on December 31, with both currently in judicial custody following earlier searches and investigations.
