All eight individuals arrested in connection with the alleged misappropriation of donations and offerings at the Ram Mandir have been remanded to three-day judicial custody. They are scheduled to remain in jail until June 29 and will appear before the city court again on Monday.
The police are planning to request police remand to question the accused and determine how they planned and executed the embezzlement of devotees’ donations, amounting to crores. The accused were presented before the Magistrate’s Court due to a public holiday on account of Muharram, which directed them to be placed in judicial custody.
A total of eight individuals have been accused of theft at the temple and subsequently arrested. The FIR was lodged at Ayodhya Kotwali police station based on a complaint by Krishna Mohan, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The case was filed following a preliminary report by a three-member SIT that identified several irregularities at various levels. The police aim to uncover the alleged theft through interrogation of the accused and CCTV evidence. Further actions will be taken if more individuals are implicated during the investigation.
The police are expected to probe the appointment process of cash counting staff, identify the key recruiter, and examine the involvement of ex-banking staff in diverting the offerings through banking channels. During the remand period, authorities will seek to piece together the sequence of events and connections related to the alleged irregularities by thoroughly questioning the accused.
