A tragic fire at an illegal firecracker factory in Jaipur’s Khoh Nagorian area claimed the lives of eight individuals, including a child and two brothers. Following the incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector Amar Singh and Head Constable Pappu Ram from Khoh Nagorian police station were suspended. Authorities have sealed five factories and warehouses involved in illegal firecracker production and storage, with large quantities of gunpowder being confiscated during police raids.
The fire, which occurred around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, led to allegations of administrative negligence and police inaction. The property owner, Yakub, and the factory operator, Firoz, are currently absconding. Investigations revealed that the factory was producing “cold fire” crackers and that the premises were cleverly divided to conceal manufacturing activities. Despite concerns over safety and compliance, the factory managed to operate in a densely populated residential area.
In response to the tragedy, police conducted raids in the area, leading to the sealing of warehouses and the recovery of machines used for manufacturing firecrackers. No arrests have been made yet, but a wider crackdown on illegal firecracker units is underway. The incident has highlighted the need for stricter enforcement against unauthorized firecracker production to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
