TV producer Ekta Kapoor discussed Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s non-participation in the new season of ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa,’ highlighting significant changes in the show’s format and direction. Ekta explained that the revamped season 2 underwent a complete transformation, including a shift in vision and demographic focus from the previous edition.
She mentioned, “The show’s format and vision underwent a significant overhaul, leading to a complete change in the jailor-judge concept we previously had.” Ekta emphasized that the new season has entirely departed from its predecessor, with no elements retained from the original show, including the jailor and host roles.
The inaugural season, hosted by Kangana in 2022, featured Karan Kundrra as the Jailor and crowned Munawar Faruqui as the winner. Contestants faced accusations from the outside world and competed in jail to secure basic necessities and win over the audience through tasks and personality displays.
The upcoming season will introduce fourteen inmates, two jailers, and a single lock-up for a six-week duration. Inmates will engage in tasks to earn in-game currency for essential needs like food, supplies, and privileges. The new season will feature actors Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi, and breakout star Pamala Serena as inmates, with Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan as Jailers. The show will be available for streaming on Netflix.
Ekta Kapoor previously described ‘Lock Upp: Sach ya Sazaa’ as more than a typical reality show, labeling it a social experiment filled with entertainment, drama, and unexpected twists.
