Elaborate arrangements have been made in Chennai for the swearing-in ceremony of actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President C. Joseph Vijay as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
The event has attracted political leaders, film personalities, industrialists, and senior dignitaries from across the country, leading to stringent security measures in and around the venue. Chennai city police have implemented heavy security, increased vehicle checks, and enforced strict access control measures around the stadium in preparation for the ceremony.
Special seating has been organized for distinguished guests attending the swearing-in function. Notably, seats in the front row have been reserved for Vijay’s parents, veteran filmmaker S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shobha Chandrasekhar. Actor Trisha Krishnan and her mother were also given seats in the same row, garnering attention from the media and fans present at the venue.
Before the ceremony commenced, Trisha was spotted warmly interacting with Vijay’s mother, Shobha, which became a highlight of the event. This interaction drew significant focus from attendees and media outlets. Trisha also engaged in conversations with various actors and film personalities who had arrived for the event, creating a vibrant atmosphere inside the stadium. Guests were seen capturing moments with the actress as anticipation mounted for Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony.
Vijay’s appointment as Chief Minister follows TVK’s emergence as the largest party in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, securing 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly. Despite falling short of the majority mark individually, the party later gained support from the Congress, the CPI, the CPI-M, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
With the backing of alliance partners and external support, Vijay’s coalition surpassed the required number with 120 MLAs, paving the way for the formation of a new government in Tamil Nadu. Alongside Vijay, nine ministers are anticipated to be sworn in as part of the new cabinet.
