A 76-year-old man, Babulal Chopra, is fighting for his life in Mumbai’s Goregaon West area after being struck by a speeding scooter in a hit-and-run incident on March 22. Chopra, crossing the road, was severely injured as the scooter rider fled the scene immediately. He was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital with critical head injuries and significant blood loss, where doctors are providing intensive treatment due to his fragile condition.
Police have initiated a search for the unidentified accused involved in the incident and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and rider. The victim’s family has urged authorities for swift action and the culprit’s immediate arrest to ensure justice for the injured senior citizen. The incident is part of a concerning trend of hit-and-run cases on the rise in Mumbai.
In a separate hit-and-run case near the Centaur Hotel on the Western Express Highway in Vile Parle (East), a 24-year-old biker, Neelkanth Ingole, lost his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle. Ingole succumbed to severe head and internal injuries, prompting authorities to analyze CCTV footage to locate the vehicle. Another tragic incident on March 24 involved the death of a 42-year-old businessman, Shrinivas Tandle, in Kalyan. Tandle, a respected figure in the local business community, was fatally hit by a car allegedly driven by a 17-year-old while riding his bicycle in the Khadakpada area of Thane district.
