Two elderly women, aged around 78 and 80 years, were discovered dead inside their residence in the New Rajender Nagar area of central Delhi. The women were found after their domestic help noticed a foul smell emanating from the house and alerted neighbors when all doors were locked from the inside.
Upon investigation, the police found the bodies of Chandra Kanta, approximately 80 years old, and Saroj Bala, also around 80 years old, inside the house. The women were found unconscious, with one on the bed and the other on the floor, emitting a foul odor.
Authorities mentioned that there were no signs of forced entry, ransacking, or disturbance inside the single-storey house with four entry points. The deceased women, identified as sisters-in-law, had been living together for an extended period.
The Crime Team, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Team, and CAT Ambulance were called to the scene for further investigation. The CAT Ambulance team confirmed the deaths of both women at the residence.
Police officials stated that while no immediate signs of foul play were evident during the preliminary inspection, all possible angles are being explored. The bodies are being sent to RML Hospital for further procedures, with investigations ongoing to determine the cause of death.
