The Election Commission of India is investigating reports of voting obstructions in West Bengal. Concerns arose over Left supporters facing obstacles while trying to vote and a clash involving Trinamool Congress workers and Humayun Kabir, the chairperson of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party. The incidents occurred during the initial phase of voting in Murshidabad district.

Allegations surfaced about Left supporters being hindered from voting in the Domkal area of Murshidabad. Clashes between Left Front supporters and Trinamool workers were reported, with claims of CPI(M) supporters being barred from voting in the Raipur area. Central forces and state police intervened to ensure voting proceeded smoothly under their protection.

In Domkal, Trinamool Congress workers were accused of obstructing voters, prompting a visit by Subdivisional Police Officer Shubham Bajaj. Another altercation occurred in Naoda, Murshidabad, between Trinamool workers and Humayun Kabir, leading to voter intimidation allegations. Police and Central forces intervened to prevent the situation from escalating.

The Election Commission has requested a detailed report on these incidents. The ongoing Assembly polls in West Bengal are under tight security, with 2,407 companies of Central forces deployed. The second phase of polling for the remaining 142 Assembly constituencies is scheduled for April 29, with results expected on May 4.
