The Election Commission of India revealed the alterations in the number of electors post the Special Intensive Revision in Gujarat, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry. In Gujarat, the elector count decreased from 5,08,43,436 to 4,40,30,725 after the revision, indicating a deletion of 68,12,711 names. The Commission clarified that these deletions were due to various reasons like death, migration, and duplicate enrollments.
The electoral roll in Lakshadweep saw a slight drop from 57,813 to 57,607 after the revision, a decrease of 0.36 percent. Similarly, in Puducherry, the number of electors reduced from 10,21,578 to 9,44,211 post the revision, showing a 7.57 percent decrease. The ECI highlighted that the process of updating voter lists is ongoing, allowing eligible citizens to make corrections or apply for inclusion using specific forms.
The Election Commission informed that the Special Intensive Revision in Bihar has concluded, and the Summary Revision in Assam has also finished. Final electoral rolls for various regions like Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan are set to be released on February 21. Additionally, the ECI announced the initiation of the next phase of SIR in 22 States and Union Territories, including Delhi, starting April 2026.
