The Embassy of India in Azerbaijan has opened a Permanent Exhibition showcasing UNESCO World Heritage Sites of India in Baku. The event, attended by ambassadors, diplomats, and various dignitaries, aimed to highlight India’s cultural and natural heritage, fostering stronger ties between India and Azerbaijan.
Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan Abhay Kumar and Anna Soave, Head of Country Programme of UN-Habitat Azerbaijan, jointly inaugurated the exhibition. The display featured 17 panels exhibiting India’s renowned cultural and natural landmarks recognized by UNESCO for their universal value.
Ambassador Kumar emphasized India’s ancient civilization and its 44 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including iconic landmarks like Nalanda University, the Taj Mahal, and the temple complexes of Hampi and Khajuraho. He hoped the exhibition would enhance cultural understanding and engagement between India and Azerbaijan.
Anna Soave praised the initiative, highlighting India’s commitment to preserving its historical and natural treasures. She lauded the exhibition for promoting cultural awareness and appreciation of shared heritage, reflecting India’s rich cultural diversity and civilizational legacy.
The event included a Heritage-cum-Fashion Walk with Azerbaijani participants showcasing traditional Indian attire. Guests also enjoyed an Indian Street Food Festival, cultural performances, and vibrant celebrations. The Permanent Exhibition at the Embassy of India will offer the public a chance to explore India’s celebrated cultural and natural landmarks.
