An encounter reignited on Saturday in Dolgam village of Kishtwar district as security forces and terrorists engaged. The joint forces successfully located the militants after an earlier operation on January 18. The Army’s White Knight Corps, along with J&K Police and CRPF, re-established contact with the terrorists during Operation Trashi-I.
Firing exchanges commenced early in the day between the joint forces and the terrorists in Dolgam village. Mobile Internet services were suspended in the area, including the encounter site, as a security measure. The initial encounter on January 18 in the Sonnar area, northeast of Chatroo in Kishtwar, lasted for several hours during a search operation.
The operation, named ‘Operation Trashi-I’ by the White Knight Corps, was launched by the joint forces. Tragically, an Army paratrooper lost his life in the initial firing exchanges in Chatroo on January 18. The Army paid tribute to the fallen paratrooper, Havildar Gajendra Singh, for his bravery and sacrifice during the counter-terrorism operation.
After continuous efforts post-January 19, the joint forces successfully located the terrorists in Dolgam village after twelve days. Further updates are awaited from the encounter site in Kishtwar district.
