England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt conceded that her team was outperformed by a more seasoned Australian side in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 final at Lord’s. Despite the loss by seven wickets, Sciver-Brunt highlighted England’s achievements in a commendable tournament. Sciver-Brunt’s unbeaten 58 off 53 balls helped England reach 150/4, but Australia comfortably chased down the target in 17.1 overs.

The Australian team, led by Beth Mooney’s match-winning 64 runs, secured their seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title. Sciver-Brunt expressed disappointment at being outplayed by a strong Australian team in a crucial final match. She acknowledged the impact of the toss and admitted that England fell short of a competitive total on a challenging batting surface.

Sciver-Brunt praised Beth Mooney’s exceptional performance, describing her innings as superb. She noted that Australia’s powerful batting lineup was always a threat. Despite the defeat, Sciver-Brunt commended the unity and effort displayed by the England squad throughout the tournament. She emphasized the team’s hard work, energy, and camaraderie, highlighting the positive aspects of their campaign.

England concluded the tournament as runners-up, with Sciver-Brunt achieving personal success by scoring a half-century in the final. She also became the first England player to score fifties in both knockout matches of a Women’s T20 World Cup, adding to her impressive performance in the semifinal.
