England’s FIFA World Cup journey advances to the knockout stage with a crucial match against DR Congo at Atlanta Stadium. The Three Lions, led by Thomas Tuchel, seek to uphold their reputation as top contenders after topping Group L undefeated. Despite some room for improvement in their performances, England’s ability to deliver under pressure has secured their spot in the round of 32.

In their final group game, England secured a 2-0 victory over Panama, with Harry Kane becoming the nation’s all-time leading men’s World Cup goalscorer. Jude Bellingham added the second goal post-break, showcasing England’s potential. Although yet to display their full strength, England’s solid defense and attacking depth position them as strong competitors in the tournament.

DR Congo, on the other side, enters the knockout stage with a historic achievement, making their first appearance at this stage under their current identity. Despite an initial setback against Uzbekistan, the African nation rallied back, led by Yoane Wissa’s standout performance. Sebastien Desabre’s team, as the highest-ranked third-placed team, has proven their ability to compete against established opponents, making them formidable challengers.

While England holds the favorite tag due to their experience and squad quality, DR Congo’s resilience and underdog status could pose a threat. The Leopards’ confidence and lack of external pressure might make them tricky opponents for the Three Lions. However, England’s firepower and tournament experience are expected to give them the edge in securing a spot in the last 16.
