Batting all-rounder Alice Capsey and left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen‑Coleman have been selected for their debut Test appearances in England’s 15‑member squad for the one-off match against India at Lord’s from July 10-13. The match follows the Women’s T20 World Cup final at the same venue. Mady Villiers, Grace Potts, and Ellie Threlkeld are also eyeing their first Test caps for England.
Emma Lamb and Issy Wong join the squad after missing the last Test against Australia in January last year. Charlie Dean, however, is excluded from the team. This historic four-day Test at Lord’s will mark a significant moment for women’s cricket, following the venue’s recent 150th men’s Test. Nat Sciver‑Brunt will lead England, with Heather Knight set to play her 15th Test match.
England’s Managing Director of Women’s Cricket, Clare Connor, expressed pride in the selected squad for this unique Test match at Lord’s. She highlighted the rarity and challenge of Test cricket for women, emphasizing the players’ honor in representing England in this format. The squad, led by Nat Sciver-Brunt, includes players like Tammy Beaumont, Sophie Ecclestone, and Amy Jones.
