Hosts England have announced their 15-player team for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, commencing on June 12. Nat Sciver-Brunt will lead the team in her seventh T20 World Cup appearance on home ground. The squad includes newcomers like Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Issy Wong, and Lauren Filer, alongside experienced players such as Danni Wyatt-Hodge.
Charlie Dean has been named as Sciver-Brunt’s deputy, joining a talented group of allrounders in the team, with fast bowler Lauren Bell expected to spearhead the bowling attack. Head Coach Charlotte Edwards, who previously led England to victory in the 2009 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, will bring her wealth of over 960 caps of T20 International experience to the tournament.
Expressing the challenges of selection, Edwards stated that the process was tough due to the strong pool of players vying for spots in the squad. She emphasized the privilege of making these decisions and the team’s motivation for the upcoming tournament. Skipper Sciver-Brunt expressed her honor in leading England in a T20 World Cup at home, highlighting the team’s eagerness to compete and strive for success.
