England’s left-arm spinner, Liam Dawson, remains focused despite the buzz surrounding Pakistan’s spinner, Usman Tariq, ahead of the T20 World Cup Super Eights clash. Dawson emphasized that England is ready to face Pakistan’s spin bowlers, including Tariq, Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Saim Ayub, Salman Agha, and Mohammad Nawaz.
Following a 51-run victory against Sri Lanka, England aims for a top-two finish in the Super Eights group by defeating Pakistan. Concerns about England’s vulnerability to spin persist after four of their top five batsmen fell to Sri Lankan spinners in the previous match.
Usman Tariq, known for his unique bowling style, has garnered attention in the tournament. Despite the focus on Tariq, England captain Harry Brook mimicking his action in practice, Dawson stressed the importance of considering the entire Pakistani team’s strengths.
Dawson, along with Will Jacks and Adil Rashid, played pivotal roles in England’s success against Sri Lanka, with the spin trio sharing seven wickets. Dawson highlighted the diversity in England’s spin bowling attack, with each bowler bringing a different skill set to the table.
“We have a variety of spinners in our squad. Each of us offers a unique style – Jacks with his overspin and bounce, Rashid with his variations, and myself as a more defensive spinner,” Dawson explained. The experienced spinners are prepared for the challenge against Pakistan and are focused on executing their roles effectively.
