Dhaka, July 29 (IANS) The newly appointed High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, paid courtesy calls on the Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs on Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meetings took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of constructive engagement that both sides seek to maintain in their bilateral ties.
During the discussions, the Foreign Minister congratulated High Commissioner Trivedi on his appointment and assured him of the Ministry’s full cooperation throughout his tenure in Dhaka. He expressed confidence that the High Commissioner’s diplomatic experience would contribute positively to further strengthening India–Bangladesh relations.
Reaffirming Bangladesh’s “Bangladesh First” policy, the Foreign Minister reiterated the country’s commitment to a forward-looking and mutually respectful relationship with India. He said this partnership must continue to be guided by the core principles of sovereign equality, mutual trust and understanding, and mutual benefit.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs also received the Indian High Commissioner in a similarly cordial setting. Both meetings provided an early opportunity for the new envoy to engage with Bangladesh’s foreign policy leadership and to exchange views on the importance of maintaining open channels of communication.
High Commissioner Trivedi’s courtesy calls come at a time when Bangladesh and India continue to attach high priority to their multifaceted partnership. The exchanges highlighted the shared desire to deepen collaboration across various sectors while remaining firmly anchored in mutual respect and equality.
