Tremiki Lamurong netted twice in the 87th and 90’+3rd minutes, leading eShillong Lajong to a resounding 6-1 victory over Aizawl FC in Match 42 of the Star Cement Indian Football League 2025-26 at the SSA Stadium in Shillong. Other scorers for Lajong included Phrangki Buam, Everbrightson Sana, Gladdy Kharbuli, and Lamlallian Vaiphei, while Lalhriatpuia scored the lone goal for Aizawl.
With this win, Shillong Lajong climbed to second place in the standings temporarily, amassing 17 points from nine matches. On the other hand, Aizawl’s defeat pushed them down to seventh place, confirming their spot in the relegation phase.
In the game, Shillong Lajong’s head coach Birendra Thapa made a single change to the starting lineup, introducing Gladdy Kharbuli in midfield instead of Abelson Jachi. Aizawl, under R. Lalruatfela, made three alterations to their lineup, bringing in Lalawmpuia Sailo, Malsawmzuala Tlangte, and Lalhriatpuia.
Aizawl initially dominated the match with swift passing but failed to convert chances. Shillong gradually seized control and took the lead in the 26th minute through Phrangki Buam’s goal. The home team extended their lead before halftime, with Everbrightson Sana capitalizing on a goalkeeper error.
Shillong Lajong’s strong start to the second half saw them earn multiple corners, but Aizawl managed to pull one back early on. However, Lajong regained momentum, scoring three more goals through Lamlallian, Gladdy Kharbuli, and Tremiki Lamurong to seal a comprehensive victory.
