Indonesian rescuers located 11 European tourists and one crew member safe after their speedboat disappeared in Tomini Bay off Gorontalo province. They were rescued and taken to Tojo Una-Una Regency in Central Sulawesi. Search efforts are ongoing for the missing captain.
The tourists, hailing from European countries, set off from a dive resort in Central Sulawesi en route to Gorontalo but failed to arrive as scheduled at 11:00 am local time. A search operation was initiated promptly upon receiving the report. Rescue teams are conducting thorough searches in the vessel’s anticipated path and nearby waters.
In a separate incident, the Indonesian search and rescue authorities halted the search for 14 individuals missing from the KM Nurul Salsa passenger boat sinking in South Sulawesi. Despite a 10-day search with no new leads, 58 individuals were rescued, four were found deceased, and 14 are still unaccounted for. Evacuation plans will resume if any missing persons are located.
The KM Nurul Salsa vessel sank due to engine failure in waters off South Sulawesi on July 15 during its journey from Jampea Island to Benteng.
