An expansion of urban bus services in Gujarat is set to enhance connectivity and lower commuting expenses. Seventeen new routes have been approved under the Chief Minister Urban Bus Service Scheme, aiming to bolster public transport systems and reach underserved areas. The decision, guided by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and approved by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, will introduce new routes in Navsari, Vapi, and Palanpur.
The Navsari Municipal Corporation area will see seven new routes, facilitating easier and more affordable travel within the city. In Vapi, an industrial hub with high daily worker movement, four new routes have been given the green light. This move is expected to ease commuting for residents and reduce the reliance on private vehicles. Palanpur Municipality, as the headquarters of Banaskantha district, will benefit from six new routes to accommodate its urban growth.
Deputy Chief Minister Sanghavi emphasized the initiative’s goal of enhancing daily travel convenience and efficiency. By extending bus services to remote areas, the scheme aims to save time and money for the public. The planned expansion is anticipated to alleviate urban traffic congestion, promote environmental benefits through increased public transport usage, and deploy modern buses for safe and efficient travel.
