External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held discussions with Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, United Republic of Tanzania, and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, in New Delhi. They explored avenues to enhance cooperation in various key sectors such as higher education, capacity building, healthcare, artificial intelligence, digital technology, and water supply.
During the meeting, EAM Jaishankar expressed satisfaction with the talks and reiterated India’s dedication to strengthening its partnership with Zanzibar and Tanzania. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in sectors like education, water supply, health, AI, and digital technology.
The engagement between India and Tanzania is progressing, with a focus on bolstering strategic ties through increased collaboration in education, technology, capacity building, and development projects. President Mwinyi’s official visit to India follows his recent engagements in Chennai, where he participated in the 63rd Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
President Mwinyi’s visit is set to enhance India-Tanzania relations by fostering cooperation in education, digital innovation, healthcare, capacity building, and other vital areas. This visit underscores India’s ongoing commitment to partnerships with African nations, with a particular emphasis on educational and strategic connections exemplified by the IIT Madras Zanzibar campus.
