The Faizabad Bar Association lodged a formal complaint at the Ram Janmabhoomi police station in Ayodhya, urging the filing of an FIR against former officials of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. This complaint involves allegations of misappropriation of funds and donations meant for the Ram Temple. The Bar Association canceled a planned foot march to the police station after receiving assurances of FIR registration.
Faizabad Bar Association President Kalika Prasad Mishra expressed concerns about the handling of a previous FIR related to the case, which resulted in the arrest of eight individuals. He highlighted discrepancies in how the police reported the recovery of cash from multiple locations. The Association is pushing for an FIR against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and others, with the possibility of additional names being included.
The Bar Association President called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter, emphasizing the need for the Enforcement Directorate’s involvement due to the substantial financial implications. He criticized the police for failing to safeguard the Trust’s funds and donations despite heightened security measures. The President also mentioned documented theft of Rs 79.85 lakh, alongside reports of significant amounts recovered from various individuals.
