Patna, Aug 18 (IANS) A day after a woman and her two minor daughters were found dead under suspicious circumstances at their home in Bihar’s Nawada, the deceased woman’s family has alleged murder and demanded a thorough investigation.

The family has submitted a written complaint at Bundelkhand police station, accusing unknown persons of murder and expressing suspicion that the woman’s in-laws could be involved.

SHO Dharmraj Kumar confirmed that the allegations have been received and said the matter is under investigation.

The deceased have been identified as Nida Khatoon (30) and her daughters Sariya Khatoon (3) and Sitara Khatoon (4).

The three were found dead on Monday morning in the Darji locality under the Bundelkhand police station limits.

According to police, Nida was found hanging in a room on the upper floor, while her two daughters were found dead on their respective beds.

Nida’s in-laws live on the floor below. The family reportedly became suspicious after the house remained closed for an extended period and entered the premises.

Police are investigating both homicide and suicide angles.

Investigators have also noted circumstances at the scene that have raised questions about whether Nida may have been killed before her body was found hanging as some parts of her body were found touching the bed, raising suspicion that she may have been killed and her body subsequently hanged.

The deaths of the two children have also raised suspicion, but their exact causes have not yet been officially established.

Nida’s husband, Mohammad Sajid, has reportedly been working in Dubai for around 11 months and has been informed about the incident.

Police have collected evidence from the scene and questioned family members and local residents.

A Forensic Science Laboratory team has also collected important evidence.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and police are awaiting the reports to establish the precise causes of death.

SHO Dharmraj Kumar said all aspects of the case are being investigated and that further action will depend on the evidence and post-mortem findings.
