A family in Sonia Vihar, northeast Delhi, faced a violent attack inside their home for objecting to drug use near their residence in the fourth Pusta area. The family had previously complained about individuals gathering at a nearby vacant plot to consume drugs, leading to heightened tensions.
The situation worsened when the accused individuals damaged the family’s parked car and tried to set it on fire, prompting the family to file another complaint with the police. Subsequently, the accused, accompanied by associates, entered the house and assaulted the family with sticks, rods, and knives, resulting in injuries to an elderly woman and her two sons.
Arun and Aryan, the injured family members, were taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital by the police and later transferred to GTB Hospital due to the severity of their injuries. Arun, one of the victims, recounted the attack, mentioning the burning of his vehicle, the intrusion into their house, and the physical harm inflicted on him and his brother.
The family reported ongoing threats, leading the police to register a case and initiate an investigation. Concerned local residents highlighted the need for increased patrolling to curb anti-social activities in the area and prevent similar incidents. Police authorities assured that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend all suspects involved, with dedicated teams working on the case and further legal actions pending investigation outcomes and witness testimonies.
